positiveNRG Impact Week 2025: Taking the Fight to Hunger, One Meal at a Time

For the past 18 years, NRG and its family of brands have cultivated a culture of giving back and making a positive difference in our local communities. This year, during positiveNRG Impact Week, more than 1,800 employees from across the United States and Canada came together in support of our Meals For Millions campaign to help fight hunger.

This effort went beyond just reaching a goal — it was a true reflection of NRG’s commitment to provide hope and support when and where it’s needed the most.

“One of the things that sets NRG apart is our employees’ deep commitment to giving back to the communities where they live and work,” Senior Director, Philanthropy + Community Engagement, Melissa Hensley said. “That spirit shines year-round, but during positiveNRG Impact Week, it truly comes to life. This year, more than 1,800 NRG employees came together to volunteer over 5,500 hours to pack meals to help fight hunger — a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together.”

NRG employees volunteered at local organizations in over 40 communities to help tackle the growing food crisis across the country, including:

  • Houston Food Bank
  • Food Bank Network of Somerset County
  • Philabundance Food Bank
  • Granite Education Foundation
  • Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank

Food insecurity is a critical issue that affects people from all walks of life, every day. According to the Food Research and Action Center (FRAC), over 47 million people¹ lived in U.S. households experiencing food insecurity in 2023, and the need continues to grow.

Every meal packed during positiveNRG Impact Week provided nourishment, compassion, and a sense of support to those who received them.

Across 14 states and two Canadian provinces, NRG employees understand the power of coming together for one common goal — it’s the impact that’s the greatest reward. We are proud to continue supporting our communities.
