Your Time to Shine: The 2026 Annual Excellence in Energy Awards

The Excellence in Energy Awards are back for a seventh year, and NRG is once again shining the spotlight on our business customers that are making meaningful impacts.

Each year, we have the privilege of recognizing customers who are finding innovative ways to transform the energy landscape, and each year, we are more and more astounded by the caliber of projects our applicants submit. Their achievements demonstrate what’s possible when organizations pair ambitious goals with forward-thinking leadership.

We are eagerly awaiting this year's entries to see how participants are setting new standards in our three award categories.

Once again in 2026, business customers, brokers, and NRG personnel may nominate organizations that demonstrate consistent excellence in one or more of the following categories, with nominees eligible to earn Gold, Silver, or Bronze distinctions.

• Community — honors organizations making a meaningful difference through service, partnerships, or charitable initiatives
• Sustainability — recognizes businesses driving measurable environmental progress through sustainability initiatives
• Energy Efficiency — celebrates organizations improving operations through smart energy management and efficiency

We also have a special recognition, The Timeless Award, an honor given to a valued business partner whose commitment to collaboration over the years has played a meaningful role in our energy journey.

Submissions for this year’s Awards open on Monday, July 13. All NRG Business, Direct Energy Business, Green Mountain Energy, Cirro Energy, Reliant, and wholesale customers are eligible for nomination.

You can nominate your organization for an award or one you believe deserves consideration for recognition. We also encourage any account executives or energy brokers to submit nominations on behalf of eligible clients. The nomination process is quick and easy, but don't delay, as the entry window closes Monday, August 31.
