Connected Through Community
Our 19 th annual Impact Week brought NRG employees together nationwide to support local nonprofits and the places we call home.
NRG Impact Week brings our people together, not only to volunteer, but to connect with the places and people that are part of our everyday lives.
During our 19th annual Impact Week, over 1,400 team members stepped away from their daily work and into neighborhoods across the country, joining forces with nonprofit partners to make a difference. From May 18-22, NRG employees participated in 66 service projects across 29 communities.
This year’s theme, Home, was rooted in a simple idea: Home is built through connection, care, and showing up for one another. Throughout the week, employees packed meals, built furniture, and worked alongside neighborhood organizations supporting local families.
As part of this year’s partnership with The Pack Shack, employees helped pack nutritious meals to support families experiencing food insecurity nationwide.
“We’re grateful to partner with NRG during their week of service as their team turns compassion into action and creates a meaningful local impact,” said The Pack Shack team.
In addition to The Pack Shack, NRG also partnered with a number of nonprofits across the country, including Habitat for Humanity, Love for Our Elders, and several local food banks and furniture banks to support outreach efforts focused on housing, food access, and community care.
In Pittsburgh, our employees assembled birthday goody bags to uplift local children and families.
“Working together with colleagues to assemble meaningful birthday goody bags for a local non-profit was a wonderful and exhilarating experience for everyone involved,” said Valerie Boccardi, CX Business Marketing at NRG. “It was fun to see Pittsburgh volunteers working together as a team to efficiently complete the assembly process, while we all talked about how excited the recipients of the gift bags would be! A meaningful step of the process was writing out the birthday cards that were going into the bags--each of us made up cute little sayings that really connected us all to the true value of what we were working on.”
Beyond the events, Impact Week created space for connection and collaboration across our many teams.
Impact Week reflects NRG’s commitment to strengthening the places where we live and work through service and partnership. Together, we continue building brighter communities one act of service at a time.
