We are thrilled to share that we have recently implemented the organization’s first-ever Artificial Intelligence (AI) policy, a groundbreaking development aimed at guiding and ensuring responsible AI adoption across our organization.

AI is a transformative force with the potential to revolutionize various facets of our lives. Dak Liyanearachchi, NRG Senior Vice President of Data & Technology, shares, “It will enable greater innovation across industries, redefine how we work, and enable us to better serve our customers by harnessing insights and automation. Unlocking this potential will require a new level of responsibility.”

The NRG AI policy is the cornerstone of our commitment to harnessing this potential while maintaining our values, adhering to legal and regulatory standards, and safeguarding the well-being of all stakeholders.

The key principles outlined in our AI policy underscore our dedication to the responsible use of AI and promoting:

1. Privacy & Security

   We prioritize the integrity of our data, systems, and business operations. Our policy sets high standards aimed at protecting sensitive information and ensuring operational robustness.

2. Ethical Practices

   NRG is unwavering in its commitment to ethical AI use. Setting guidelines that respect and encourage fairness, transparency, and accountability in our applications was a key focus of this new policy.

3. Stakeholder Safety

   Along with assessments and mitigation of potential risks to our business operations, the safety of our employees’, customers’, and partners’ data will remain top of mind in our AI journey.

4. Compliance

   Our AI policy aligns with legal and regulatory standards, ensuring that all our AI initiatives are conducted within the bounds of government regulations.

Alongside our AI policy, we also launched our AI Center of Excellence (AI COE) site, an internal hub for NRG employees that covers all things AI-related - including learning, consultation, and collaboration.
