Last month, I had the opportunity to speak at the Energy Marketing Conferences (EMC17), the largest and longest-running retail energy conference in North America. My panel was moderated by Ananda Goswami from EC Infosystems, and I was joined by:
Together, the panel and audience made for a lively and insightful conversation as we discussed navigating the renewable energy transition. We considered how both simplicity and competitive retail markets help make renewable energy more attainable for the customer through cost-effectiveness and flexibility to quickly innovate new products that fit customers’ needs now and in the future.
A highlight of my session was exploring the ways federal, state, and even corporate requirements may positively benefit businesses. It is inspiring to be part of the evolving conversation around renewable energy—and to see the conversation shift from asking whether or not we can deliver renewable energy solutions to the many ways we can provide those solutions in a simple and cost-effective way.
Our renewables business continues to expand to accommodate the increasing market demand. We strive to be one of the largest renewable energy buyers in North America as we look to expand our portfolio of energy products and services to help our customers achieve their energy and sustainability goals.
With 2.6 gigawatts (GW) of renewable PPAs signed to date, NRG’s approach to renewables makes clean energy more accessible than ever before. Our strategy simplifies the clean-energy procurement process—enabling organizations to embrace renewable energy through a simple contract without the need for on-site installation or significant investment. In that way, we’re providing a renewable energy solution that is focused on the customer and achieving their specific energy goals.
In ERCOT, where you have robust retail choice, innovation is key, and we have to earn our customer’s business. Customer choice plays a large part in determining where and how solutions come to market.
By listening to our customers, we implemented a simple and cost-effective way to achieve their clean energy goals through Renewable Select. What this means is customers are no longer burdened by the lengthy and complex energy procurement process of the past or generic products not suited to their operations. We are partnering with our customers to provide custom-tailored solutions to accommodate their specific energy needs and goals.
As electrification continues and power demand grows, at NRG, we’re focused on growing our renewables offerings so we can help our customers to manage their own energy transition.
