Matthew Pistner

Senior Vice President, President of NRG Wholesale

Matt Pistner is President of NRG Wholesale, leading NRG’s commercial operations, plant operations, asset management, and development, engineering, and construction functions. In this role, he oversees all aspects of NRG’s power generation fleet as well as gas and power trading, origination, wholesale analytics, and real time operations. His organization is responsible for the safe and reliable operation, development and construction, and commercial dispatch of NRG's assets, backed by dedicated teams in safety, environmental, engineering & technical services, outage management, and operations planning and analysis.

Prior to his current role, Matt served as Senior Vice President of Plant Operations and held various regional vice president positions in the Northeast, West, and Gulf Coast for NRG. He has over 33 years of technical, plant, and corporate leadership in the United States and Australia.

Matt received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, his MBA from the University of Tennessee, and his M.A in Applied Behavioral Science from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington. In the past, he has served on boards of numerous community and environmental nonprofit organizations, including most recently, the Board of Directors for the Galveston Bay Foundation.
