— Texas retail electricity provider plants roots in Lubbock as city transitions to competitive electricity market in 2023 —
LUBBOCK, TEXAS – October 7, 2022 – Texas retail electricity provider Reliant celebrates the opening of its Lubbock office today. With support from the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce and community stakeholders, Reliant will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony this afternoon to mark its official expansion into the Lubbock market.
With areas of Lubbock transitioning to a competitive retail electricity market next year, Reliant looks forward to helping electricity customers navigate their new options and powering local homes and businesses in the fall of 2023.
“As Lubbock ushers in a new competitive electricity market next year, many residents and businesses will have the power to choose their electricity provider for the first time. Competition delivers better offers, services and products for consumers,” said Elizabeth Killinger, president, Reliant. “As a leading electricity provider in Texas, Reliant is committed to powering and supporting people and communities. We’re thrilled to open an office in Lubbock with a dedicated, local team that will help educate and serve the public throughout this exciting chapter.”
Anna Delano will lead the new office as Reliant Lubbock region manager. Delano is a Lubbock local with a passion for building relationships, forging partnerships, and positively impacting the community. She holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in communication studies from Texas Tech University. Delano previously served as the Rawls College of Business Director of Graduate Recruitment and Admissions at Texas Tech University.
"As mayor, it is my privilege to welcome Reliant to Lubbock and thank them for their investment in our community through their recently announced office, staff and partnership with Texas Tech Athletics and Alumni Association,” said Lubbock Mayor Tray Payne. “Deregulation traditionally provides competitive pricing in formerly regulated electricity markets. Reliant’s emergence into the Lubbock community signals the beginning of that process. We’re excited about the market transition and for the people of Lubbock to be able to choose their electricity provider.”
In addition to its new office, Reliant recently announced a multi-year partnership with Texas Tech Athletics and the Texas Tech Alumni Association that supports Red Raider athletics, fans, alumni and the Lubbock community. Reliant has been a member of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce since 2017 and also proudly supports the South Plains Food Bank and various local events, including the Cinco de Mayo Parade of Lubbock, the Hispanic Heritage Festival, 4th on Broadway, and Los Hermanos Familia’s Vamos a Pescar (Let’s go Fishing) event. Reliant looks forward to forging additional partnerships with local organizations and programs that are making an impact in West Texas.
Reliant’s Lubbock office is located at 5001 West Loop 289, Suite 312, Lubbock, TX 79414. For more information about Reliant, visit reliant.com.
