KEY TO OUR PROCESS

THE RIGHT MATCH

Finding the right opportunity starts with matching your skills to jobs you’re excited about and the challenges you want to solve. Candidates have greater success when their experience strongly matches our job requirements. Be consistent and true to your experience as it lines up to the specific requirements of each job. Here’s how to frame your achievements:

  • Be specific about projects you’ve worked on or managed and include success metrics
  • If you managed teams, tell us about the team's size and cross-functional relationships
  • If you’re a recent grad, include school projects, coursework, or outside activities that demonstrate relevant skills and knowledge
  • Keep it short: Highlight significant accomplishments, qualifications, and experience

Your first official step in the process involves creating a career profile on our website. After you complete the required position screening questions and submit your application, our system will generate an automated email response to confirm receipt of your application. One added note: Some mail servers parse messages to spam or junk mail folders. Please check these folders to ensure you receive confirmation of your application. To help avoid this in the future, add our company address to your safe senders' contact list.

NEXT STEP IS ON US

REVIEWING YOUR APPLICATION

Our recruiters take great care to match qualified candidates for each position. This process can take several days or several weeks, depending on applicant volume — we appreciate your patience. During this time, please check your email regularly and review the status of your application on your profile.

ASSESSMENTS

ENSURING A GREAT FIT

We use pre-employment assessment testing to help further identify qualified candidates. Depending on the job, you may be asked to complete an assessment test, offered either at testing centers or remotely at home (additional technology requirements are required for remote home testing).Candidates must receive a rating of ‘recommended’ to be considered for the next steps in our process. Check out the sample problems to get a sense of what’s expected.Should you not receive a ‘recommended’ rating, you must wait for a minimum of six months before the taking the test again.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU

THE INTERVIEW PROCESS

An interview allows you to meet our teams and learn more about our company, while we get to know you better, too. If you are selected for an interview, our recruiting team will contact you (by email or phone) to communicate the specifics. To learn more about our company culture, you can also review our Life at NRG page. You may participate in multiple types of interviews. Here are the most common:

  • Preliminary phone interview: For many positions, we will first contact you by phone to gauge your interest and get a better sense of your qualifications.
  • In-person or video interview: Our typical in-person/video interview contains behavioral-based, situational, and technical questions that help us assess your ability to solve problems and successfully handle responsibilities associated with the position.
  • On-campus interview: Our recruiting teams visit college and university campuses to find students interested in internships and permanent positions. Students interviewed at this stage may be referred for additional consideration for our current openings.

We view every interview as a conversation. We encourage you to ask us questions about our company, culture, and specifics about the workgroup you are meeting with.
